1. What is zalgo text?

Zalgo Text is text that's gone insane. We take ordinary text and make it crazy. So text like "hello" becomes "h̶̨̦͔̰̣͌̂̓͛͢͢͝e̡̢͖͎̼͕̟̿̉͋́͗ͅļ̯̦̥̼͎̳̤̑͊́̆̓̒̈̎̍͡l̵̲͈̠̤̜̟͇̑͌̀̀͂̉̀͘͘͢o̧̯͙̣͖̣͖̓̄̒̎̚͢͡͡ͅͅ"

2. How do I generate zalgo text?

To generate zalgo text, visit our homepage, and enter text in the upper text box. After hitting "Generate Zalgo Text" converted text will appear in the lower text box. This converted zalgo text can be used on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and numerous other websites.

3. What is "zalgo"?

Zalgo is the spirit of insanity that lives on the internet. He makes the internet wild and unpredictable. He corrupts websites, and text. More about Zalgo can be found on Urban Dictionary, here.

4. Is this website exploiting a bug? How does zalgo text work?

Nope, this website is not exploiting a bug. It’s actually using a feature in a framework known as Unicode. You know how everything on a computer is ultimately represented in 0s and 1s (binary)? Well Unicode is a framework to consistently represent each letter of text in a format that can be converted to 0s and 1s. Unicode has become the dominant framework for text encoding because it supports not only English but nearly every international language as well. Some of these international languages use text to which various accents and “marks” are added (for example to denote tone, or in some cases to completely change the meaning of a word). Our website basically makes use of unicode's ability to add marks to ordinary text. For each character that you enter, we add a large number of these marks to make the text look "zalgo".

5. Where can I use text generated by Zalgo Text Generator?

Zalgo text can be used on most websites, forums, blogs, and apps including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Gmail, Word, etc. In most cases, you can just copy and paste the generated zalgo text, but some forum/blogging software might require you to enter the zalgo text as HTML. To generate HTML zalgo text, just press the View HTML link below the textbox containing zalgo text on our homepage.

6. How do I copy and paste zalgo text?

After entering text on our homepage, select the generated zalgo text and copy it as you would copy any other text (Ctrl+C for Windows, Cmd+C for Mac, or right click and select Copy). Then paste the zalgo text wherever you would like it to appear. While the zalgo text is highlighted for copying you may not see the zalgo marks around the text, but don't worry! The creepy zalgo marks will be copied along with the text. Some websites may not properly display zalgo text, but you can paste zalgo text onto many sites.
